Reasons for participating in competitions and aerobatics ?

It was quickly clear that I wanted to try my hand at competitions, since my father already regularly participated in competitions. In addition, I am always interested in learning new figures and programs. The first competition in Sitterdorf showed me that the SAA is one big family and attracted me. With a lot of training and a goal, I emulate the Unlimited pilots. My first SNAC last year was just awesome, despite the mixed weather. I’m already looking forward to the upcoming competitions.

How did you get started?

I grew up next to the airfield St. Gallen Altenrhein and I still get excited about flying like a kid and could be at the airfield for hours . I enjoyed watching my father fly at his airshows and wanted to fly an airshow myself one day with the Extra230. I still have this goal. When I flew a whole aerobatic program at the age of 12, I was thrilled and wanted to be able to do it myself. But I started the PPL only shortly before I graduated from high school.

How long have you been flying and what experiences have you had in championships?

Since I was little, I was always allowed to fly. Since 2017 I am in possession of the PPL and since 2020 I have the acro license. Since I have only been competing for 2 years, I have only had a little experience. However, these were very enjoyable and successful.

Are there certain events/championships that you prefer?

I prefer the Hamilton Cup in Bressaucourt, because we always arrive from St. Gallen Altenrhein the evening before by plane and enjoy the hospitality of the airfield manager and the restaurant. This way, the Cup becomes a little weekend getaway.

What is your favorite figure?

There are still so many figures that I can’t fly myself and would like to. Of all the ones I have flown, it would be the Lomkovák.

Which plane do you fly and why?

The Extra230, because this airplane carries a great history with it and I would like to take part in further competitions with this airplane, just like my father. Of course also because it is located in Altenrhein.

What would be your goal(s)?

I want to be better and better, participate in an airshow and always learn more figures.

Do you fly other types of airplanes?

Yes, I fly regularly with a Super Decathlon and do aerobatic sightseeing flights from the Fliegerschule Altenrhein. For quieter flights with friends or for overflights I fly the Bravo AS02. I used it to get my aerobatic license.

Are there any quotes or short stories from your pilot life that you would like to share with us?

My flying career is still young, so I’m sure there will be a story or two So far I fly because then I’m just happy and forget about everyday life.

Do you have other hobbies when you are not at the airfield?

Yes, since I am a physiotherapist I have to be a bit polysportiv. I ride horses, am a ski instructor in the winter, go jogging from time to time (when I have to ) and love to hike.

What would you like to see in terms of SAA or aerobatics in Switzerland ?

More acceptance from the population for our sport and our events.

Who is the next MoM ?

Guillaume Favre-Bulle
