Why flying planes/being part of SAA?

I have been infected with the “flying virus” since birth. I learned model flying from my father when I was 11 years old and I still pursue this versatile and exciting hobby very intensively. Aviation is my life and I spend every free minute with it. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to do the theory for the PPL until then. But I am learning again. Aerobatics have fascinated me since I was very small and I am happy every time I hear “acro noises” and watch the figures. I am already looking forward like a little child to the next SNAC and to filming!

How did you start ?

I met Lukas Berner in the military and got to know him through his mother, Susanne Vogelsang, to my first SNAC. This was in 2015 in Reichenbach.

For how long have you been with the SAA and what is your experience in

terms of Championships ?

I have been with the SAA since 2015 and only missed Yverdon 2016, unfortunately. I was the “cameraman” from the beginning and always had a great time. great time. It was always fun and cool with all the participants and helpers. I hope to be with you for a long time and look forward to many more many more SNAC’s!

Tell us about your passion for aeromodelling?

As I said before, I have been flying model planes for 16 years, mainly aerobatics mainly aerobatics. I make sure that I fly as close to the model as possible and that my figures are correct. With my colleagues and my father I like to fly in formation with my colleagues and my father. Model flying is so versatile and and varied that I would never give up this hobby! It is a lot of fun!

If there would be only one plane, which one would it be?

I can hardly answer this question, but if I had to choose one, it would be the it would be the Christen Eagle II. I have this plane as a I have a 1:4.4 scale model of this aircraft and fly it the most.

What is your favorite figure ?

I think every figure is cool but in classic aerobatics I would like to do the loop with a roll in the upper apex. My absolute favourite is the Lomcevàk with all the different variations.

Any quotes or short stories linked to your aviation’s life you would like to share with us?

I could tell you a lot of stories, whether about model flying or when I was allowed to fly with colleagues. The flight with Ariel Lüdi and his Suchoj was very exciting.

Lüdi and his Suchoj 29 or when I flew with Willy and Felix Reinert’s Christen Eagle II.

Do you have other hobbies when you are grounded?

I build my model planes in bad weather and meet up with colleagues.

What is your wish in terms of SAA or aerobatics in Switzerland?

My wish is that aerobatics will continue to be practised in Switzerland for a long time, despite the increasing population density. For the SAA I wish for the 100th anniversary and many more SNAC’s!

Who is the next MoM?

Peter Huber.
